Bomkai was introduced in the Sonepur cluster in the late 80s and gained prominence in 1990s. The "Bhulia" community has shown creative excellence by designing innumerable patterns and motifs according to the demands of the customer. The beauty lies in the fact that the designs are theme based and suitable casual as well as festive occasions.

This design is a much-adorned traditional design of the Sonepur cluster of Odisha, popularly known as Doll bomkai.
